Iceland is one absolute heaven on earth blessed with abundant natural beauty. The country is home to both gorgeous glaciers and active volcanoes , thus known as the land of ice and Fire.



The magical winter wonderland is also dotted with numerous hot springs which are the country's best tourist attractions.

Here are some of the prime tourists hotspots , which are beautiful beyond words and a must visit.


Reykjavik



The capital of the country , Reykjavik is an island nation dotted with a number of interesting attractions catering to various kinds of travellers . The city is quite significant in the history of the Vikings .


Grindavik

Its a fishing town in Iceland  and most of the towns inhabitants are in the fishing industry. 


The town is renowned for its iconic attractions , the blue Lagoon, The Geothermal Spas. People bath here in the natural thermal blue water and the water from the underground hot springs touches 37-39 degree Celsius.


Skaftafell



Another must visit place in Iceland Skaftafell, A preservation region . This is the perfect place for nature and wildlife lovers and is home to one of the most amazing waterfall in the country.



Akureyri 

Akureyri is the second largest populated region in the Iceland after Reykjavik . Some of the prominent places to visit in the city are the Art Museum , Botanical Garden  and Motorcycle Museum. 



Arnarstapi


This one is  a pretty tiny fishing town in Iceland , nestled in the foothills of mount Stapafell . An offbeat destination, this is the place for solitude seekers and nature buffs.

Do you wish to know the most mysterious places in India or most mysterious places in World. Planet EARTH is a wondrous place that never ceases to amaze with its majestic natural wonders and jaw dropping man made marvels. But our Planet isn't without its fair share of mysteries , either. 

There are many things that we know and have discovered with the help of science and history today. But there remains so many others that are unexplained and can be listed under mysterious things in the world.

So after much of digging and studying these places , here is my list of 10 most mysterious places in India and whole over the world.


1. The Magnetic Hill Of Leh , Ladakh 



The enhancing hills of Ladakh have more than mere beauty to offer. The Magnetic Hill, located at an altitude of 11,000 feet above sea level is one of the most unusual places to visit in India

Cars driving up the hill get pulled up of their own accord. That is, one can drive up here with the ignition of their vehicles turned off.


2. The Bermuda Triangle



The Bermuda Triangle is perhaps the most famous mysterious places in the world .This area of about 500,000 square miles sits in the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and Miami, Florida. More than 20 planes and 50 ships are said to have mysteriously vanished into thin air or crashed without explanation .


3. Blood Falls (Antarctica)




On top of being the coldest and driest place on the planet, Antarctica is home to a crimson hued waterfall called Blood Falls that starkly pours down five stories along an icy white glacier. Scientist finally determined that the grisly color comes from salty , iron rich water from inside the glacier oxidizing and rusting once it's exposed to oxygen.


4. Crooked Forest, Poland




This Polish forest lives up to its name, with hundreds of peculiar pine trees. Several hundred pine trees were planted there in the 1930s and grew with an almost 90- degree bend at their base, making them look like fishing hooks. 


5. Door to Hell (Turkmenistan)




Almost 50 years ago, a gaping , fiery crater opened in the desert of northern Turkmenistan . The Darvaza Crater , also known as the Door to Hell, is still burning today, and at night its glow can be seen from miles away. 


6. Plain of Jars (Laos)




More than 2000 large ancient stone jars are spread across a plateau in the Xiengkhouang  province of central Laos. Some stand 10 feet tall and weigh several tons. Archaeologists estimate the jars are 2000 years old, but their purpose is unclear.



7. Eternal Flame Falls, United States 



Called, Eternal Flame Falls , this curious natural phenomenon is a real mystery to behold.

Why ? well, because it manages to fuse two of the earth's most elemental forces in one single spot - that's why , you'll first see the gorgeous falls themselves .

Then comes the flame, which can be seen flickering behind the cataracts .

It never goes out , and scientists says the conflagration is created by the presence of natural gas seeping from the subterrane .



8. Stonehenge (England)




The prehistoric monument from more than 5000 years ago is such a famous landmark that people might not think of it as  mysterious anymore. But how and why these massive stones in England were made and arranged over the course of 1500 years has captivated researchers , historians and curious visitors for generations. 


9.  Slope Point (New Zealand)




At the southern most point of New Zealand's South Island, the constant , fierce winds blowing up from Antarctica are so strong that they've bent the trees growing there into surreal, permanent shapes. 


10. Lake Natron (Tanzania)




Lake Natron in Tanzania is also known as Petrifying Lake because it has the power to turn birds to " stone ". The water temperature can reach 140 degrees Fahrenheit and its pH level is 10.5, nearly as high as ammonia . The water is so caustic that it can burn the skin and eyes of animals that aren't adapted to it.

During that time, Dinosaurs evolved from a group of mostly Dog and Horse size creatures into the most enormous beasts that ever existed on land.

The fossil record of dinosaurs is extensive , with over 10,000 different species and varieties having lived 65 million years ago. however, the extinction of dinosaurs is certainly a sad occurrence . It is likely that an asteroid struck the Earth 65 million years ago and caused a mass die-off of species that were unable to evolve new.

1. The Great Wall of China

The great wall of China is the longest man made structure in the world ( the wall is 13,171 miles long).  The great wall of China is a series of fortified walls built using wood, stone, metals and earth.

The great wall of China is a rage with travelers and is also one of the most photographed spot in the world. It was built from 220 BC to 1644 AD, and it is built over mountains and is a sight to behold.




  • The first part of the great wall of China was built under the rule of Emperor Qin Shi Huang of the Win dynasty. They took 20 years to complete the original wall.
  • The wall is 13,171 miles long and was constructed by several Emperor during their time.
  • The stretch of the Great wall also has natural barriers such as mountains and water bodies. 
  • Unlike popular belief, the great wall of China is not visible from outer space.


2. Petra, Jordan
                                    

An ancient city in Jordan, Petra was unveiled to the western world in the year 1812, the beautiful city of Petra was built by the Nabateans, from 4th century BC to 2nd century AD.





  • A very interesting fact about this place is that the bigger half of the city is carved out of  a single huge rock
  • Its also called rose city as the rock it was carved from was in pink colour .
  • Remember a Hollywood movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ? A part of the movie was shot at Petra.
  • A city has over 600 structures in it, including a mausoleum of a pharaoh. 



3. Christ The Redeemer, Brazil
                                        
The massive statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro is a sight to see.  It was built 1926 to 1931, and stands 125 ft tall.  It overlooks the very beautiful Rio from a 710 m mountain top, which also makes it vulnerable to bad weather conditions.




  • The statue is 125 feet tall, not including the 22 feet pedestal it stands on.
  • It was designed by Paul Landowski, a French sculptor and built by Brazilian and French engineers.
  • The arm of statue stretch 92 feet wide.


4. Machu Picchu, Peru
                             


  • The Inca city of Machu Picchu in Peru is one of the interesting places to visit in the world. 
  • It was built in 1450 and was abandoned after about a century. It was declared a UNESCO heritage site in 1983.
  • It was built with dry stone walls and spans an area of 80,536 acres.
  • It is among the top 100 endangered places and is under threat of destruction by earthquakes .
  • The City is situated 7970 feet above sea level.




5. Chichen Itza, Mexico                                   

A Mayan city built before the Colombian period. It is believed to be the largest city ever built by the Mayan civilization from 5th century to 13th century. 




  • Chichen Itza translated to English is " at the mouth of the well of the Itza".
  • The Castillo, a pyramid shaped castle in the city, is perhaps the most famous structure there.


6. Colosseum, Italy
                                 

The original name of the Colosseum was Flavian Amphitheater . The Colosseum is huge, has 80 entrances and can host around 65000 people at a go in its stand. It was used a s venue for gladiator sports and even public executions.




  • A massive fire in 207 AD destroyed the top levels of the structure, which were never repaired, an earthquake further damaged the structure.
  • There are tunnels and chambers under the arena floor, to store slaves and animals.



7. Taj Mahal, India
                              
A mausoleum built  by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, the Taj Mahal is a tomb where his wife Mumtaz is buried.




  • It took the emperor over 20 years and 20000 artisans to complete the construction.
  • Taj Mahal has 4 minarets / towers on its 4 corners. If you notice, all the minarets slant a bit. They were built that way so that if there is an earthquakes , the towers will fall away from the main sculpture.
  • Taj Mahal is made up of pure white marble, different coloured lights are used to show the monuments in different colours at different times of the day.
